Pain to Purpose

Gina’s journey is one of unimaginable hardship, unwavering faith, and powerful transformation. Her first encounter with domestic abuse began when she was just 16 years old. Groomed and manipulated by a predator eleven years her senior, she was promised love and protection—but instead found herself trapped in a cycle of emotional and psychological torment. By the time she was three months into her 17th year, Gina discovered she was pregnant.

The abuse escalated quickly. Her self-worth crumbled, leading to depression and an emotional breakdown. At just 17 years old and with a newborn in her arms, Gina bravely left her abuser. But the harassment continued for years, leaving her in a constant state of survival.

Years later, Gina entered another relationship—one even more dangerous. This time, the abuse became violent and life-threatening. Under manipulation, she married her abuser, who introduced her to crack cocaine and used addiction as a new form of control. The violence escalated to near-fatal attacks: her nose was crushed, she was repeatedly knocked unconscious, and he would stab the mattress around her body, hallucinating that people were hiding inside the bed.

Through it all, Gina held onto one thing—her faith. She credits divine intervention and her deep-rooted belief in God for sparing her life time and time again.

In 2010, Gina was set free. Rescued from the grip of addiction and abuse, she began to walk a new path—one built on healing, purpose, and service. As the daughter of a Bishop and a Pastor, Gina turned her pain into purpose by founding Broken Chain Ministries, a community outreach mission serving survivors of domestic violence and women recovering from addiction.

Since then, Gina has become:

   •   An ordained minister

   •   An ordained chaplain

   •   A certified recovery coach

   •   Founder and director of a sober living home in Providence, Rhode Island

   •   A dedicated leader continuing the legacy of her parents’ church

   •   A published author of her personal memoir, Broken Chains, which tells her raw and inspiring story of survival and redemption

   •   A recipient of the 2015 Humanitarian Award in Providence, Rhode Island, honoring her outstanding service to the community

Today, Gina stands as a powerful advocate, voice, and guide for women who feel voiceless. She is not just a survivor—she is a vessel of restoration and living proof that broken chains can be transformed into a powerful calling through faith, courage, and purpose.
